Exhibition “Plemenito” (Noble) by the authors Boris Radaković, Predrag Lozo and Dragoslav Ilić, was opened on the 23rd of March in 19:00 in saloon of the Museum of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka before large number of guests and visitors. Those present there were greeted by the director of the Museum of the Republic of Srpska, Miladin Savić, authors of the exhibition Boris Radaković and Predrag Lozo together with the head of the department for cultural heritage in Ministry of education and culture within Government of the Republic of Srpska, Milica Kostur who also had the honor to open the exhibition. 27 panels were filled with images of cultural and historical medieval heritage of Serbian people from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Believing that history and culture of the medieval Bosnian state is little or almost completely unknown to the general public, members of the Historians association “Dr. Milan Vasić” initiated the project named Plemenito two years ago, which aims to digitalize medieval historical materials related to Bosnia and Zachlumia, and this exhibition is just a part of that. Besides the Museum of the Republic of Srpska, which was co-organizer of the exhibition, overall project was supported by the Ministry of culture and education in the Government of the Republic of Srpska and Direction for cooperation with diaspora and Serbs in the region within the Ministry of foreign affairs in the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

Moto of the exhibition, “ON OUR OWN LAND, NOBLE HERITAGE” was taken from one of the numerous monuments – stećak, on which this term can be found and marks hereditary estate of certain family or kin. Exhibition is divided into four parts: Mramorje or stećci, that is, the medieval gravestones which, since the last year, found their place on the UNESCO list of world heritage, then the inscriptions on stećci, churches and endowment temples which tell us about ktetor activity in these lands in medieval period or the identity, language, letter used and lives of those buried beneath the stećci. In addition to these two parts, panels contain church documents and texts used for religious purposes in Bosnia and Zachlumia and which reveal, not only the events within the church, but also links between Bosnia and Zachlumia with other Serbian areas and in the end, forth part is composed out of diplomatic documents, that is, the charters and letters written by rulers and nobility from these lands which introduce us with political, economic, ideological and other conditions in the state of Kotromanići.

One of the exhibition goals is to reassess the current and attempt to motivate construction of a new relation towards knowledge regarding Serbian cultural heritage in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as one of the strategic foundations of the Republic of Srpska. Exhibition caused a significant media coverage and interest.

Exhibition will be placed in the Museum of the Republic of Srpska during the month of April. All those interested in medieval history and culture of Serbs in Herzegovina, Bosnia, but in other territories which were within medieval Bosnian state as well can come and expand their knowledge on that period. After this, exhibition will start its travel to new destinations throughout Republic of Srpska and Serbia.
