"PLEMENITO - Digital Archive" is a project of the Association of History Students "Dr Milan Vasic" Banja Luka.
In the Middle Ages, in the places that the rulers of the Kotromanić dynasty consolidated into one state, or as they wrote in their titles, "the kingdom of Serbs, Bosnia, : noble people, noble, noble heritage, etc. These terms are found in the ordinances of the rulers and their nobles, as well as on tombstones of marble or marble (stećci).
Noble people were the people of trust to the ruler, his most prominent greats on which he relied in the reign of the state, which in turn granted him the possession and other privileges. Also powerful magnates had their trusted people, who could have been noble and relied on them and gave them certain rewards and privileges. Noble people could be and be respected and influential foreigners, who had contacts with the state of Kotromanic. Most often, they were Dubrovnik residents, who had strong trade and diplomatic ties with the kingdom of Serbs, Bosnia, and so on.
The inscriptions on marble (stećci) often have the meaning that the deceased is buried: in his country on a noble, on his noble heritage, buried in his property on a noble, on his land of noble heritage, etc. In these words, it is made known that the deceased is buried in his country that has belonged to his family since ancient times, that he possessed it and possessed it while he was alive and that she represented an inalienable noble possession, something like a fatherland or a fatherland.
The main objective of the project Plemenito - the digitization of the material of medieval Bosnia is to bring historical resources (chapters, letters, writings, tombstones, etc.) closer and make it more accessible to both our and the foreign, scientific and lay public. We must not allow new generations to get to know their roots based on discutable data or data derived from the context. The denial of the political, cultural and economic past in medieval Bosnia, through the mentioned digitization, should be tried to prevent, certainly, with a critical re-examination of the different attitudes towards cultural heritage, its preservation and presentation in accordance with modern technologies.
Primarily, our primary goal is to re-examine the existing one and try to build a new relationship to the knowledge of the cultural heritage of the Serbian people on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We believe that the preservation of heritage is best achieved by presenting strictly scientific views which also imply different views and perspectives. Bringing and reproducing historical sources is the best approach to something like that. Such efforts and activities are also aimed at fostering the diversity of regional and European identity on a multicultural basis and, as such, are not aimed at neglecting and denying any of their identity bases.
The project has 15 graduated history departments, as well as students of postgraduate and elementary studies from the Department of History, Faculty of Philosophy in Banja Luka. Within the project supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture in the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Serbia, we expect to expand the network of associates within professional institutions and individuals with achieved results in the preservation, protection and presentation of cultural heritage. The presentation of the project will be held in several towns of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia. For the continuation of the project, more activity is planned on mapping, video and tourist presentation of cultural heritage and translation as well as the preparation of sources in foreign languages.
